"In the Garden..."

What captures my attention as a visual artist, at its foundation, is pattern, texture, and color. My attraction to gardening in particular is that gardening itself is an intense act of creation, that requires a deliberate sense of color balance and composition. I have always been particularly interested in the veinal structure of leaves, as well as the subtle shifts of greens, blues, and grays in the dense tapestry of my own garden.  As I continue to explore new media and techniques, I tend to use imagery influenced by nature and (my) garden to connect to the material qualities of the work.
